Notwithstanding that constant distraction, what stands out most about Sourdough is Robin Sloans ability to marry technology and whimsy in a way that feels /5.

Alaska Sourdough by Richard Morenus is probably one of my most favorite book of all time. It is a story about a man named "Slim" Williams who goes to Alaska during the gold rush.

Finding that few people actually get rich off of gold, he decides to raise dogs and trap instead/5. Avoid any book that suggests using yeast to start, or in conjunctiom with, sourdough as well as any that suggests using grapes, plant leaves, or much other than water and flour to start a culture.

Also, I have seen a lot of people get confused because this book says this, that book says that. Through fermentation, sourdough bread is easier on digestion―often enough for people who are sensitive to gluten―and healthier.

Artisan Sourdough Made Simple gives everyone the knowledge and confidence to join the fun, from their first rustic loaf to beyond. This book has 65 recipes and 65 photos/5(). I second that. It's very accessible for beginners, and even after 5 years of baking professionally it's still my main reference for all things bread.

Perfect for what you need and has a lot more to offer. I would not recommend Bread Baker's Apprentice for getting into sourdough.
